Form, Function and Fun

A cup of coffee in the morning out of your favorite mug, taking the lid off of a cookie jar to grab one of your wife’s molasses cookies, serving Sunday dinner on a large platter or just filling a little bowl full of candied almonds – the pots that we use in our daily lives don’t have to be bland or made solely for efficiency. Being able to see the hand of the person who made that mug or plate provides more enjoyment than looking at the seam on a mass produced cup. The imperfections and subtle variations of a handmade object give us pause and help us stop and reflect in a world that is too busy and crowded.
